Therme Dallas is a state-of-the-art urban oasis designed to bring enjoyable and accessible well-being to the world, located in the Cedars neighborhood, surrounded by the Dallas Water Commons' wetlands. It is Therme Group's first US resort and is expected to cost $800 million.
Therme Group, a European wellness company, has a history of creating similar facilities in Europe, such as Therme Erding in Germany, the largest thermal spa in the world. The Dallas resort is expected to be modeled after these successful locations. The company is also planning similar resorts in other locations such as Dubai.
As part of the concept design team at SHoP Architects, I contributed to the enclosure design of Therme Dallas, a large-scale wellness and recreation complex. The facade strategy centers on modularity and performance, integrating prefabricated unitized curtain wall systems, custom aluminum rainscreens, and large-span structural glazing. Key elements include the dramatic glass barrel vaults—engineered to span up to 180 feet—and a contextual material palette incorporating terracotta cladding and vegetated garage screens.
Acting as Project Manager as part of the architectural team at Labit Group, I was responsible for:
-
Coordinating envelope concepts across distinct architectural zones
-
Developing detailed technical façade drawings across project areas
-
Evaluating material systems
-
Leading a team of 4 architects in Revit modeling and rendering creation
-
Supporting pricing documentation for early cost estimation in coordination with SHoP Architects in New York
